I Tested Popular Functional Coffee Add-Ins for a Week Each
For the past month, I have been experimenting with various functional coffee add-ins to see which ones truly enhance my morning brew. Each week, I dedicated myself to trying a different add-in and carefully documenting my experience.
During the first week, I tried adding collagen peptides to my coffee. I was pleasantly surprised by how it dissolved easily and didn’t affect the taste of my coffee at all. After a week of consistently adding collagen to my coffee, I noticed an improvement in my skin’s elasticity.
During the second week, I switched to adding MCT oil to my coffee. I found that it gave me a sustained energy boost throughout the day and helped curb my appetite. However, I did notice that it left a slight aftertaste in my mouth.
For the third week, I experimented with adding adaptogens to my coffee. I noticed a subtle but noticeable decrease in my stress levels and felt more focused throughout the day. However, the adaptogens did give my coffee a slightly earthy taste.
During the final week, I tried adding mushrooms like lion’s mane and chaga to my coffee. I found that they provided a natural cognitive boost and helped improve my overall mental clarity. The earthy flavor of the mushrooms complemented the bitterness of coffee surprisingly well.
In conclusion, each of the functional coffee add-ins I tested had its own unique benefits and drawbacks. I will continue to incorporate collagen, MCT oil, adaptogens, and mushrooms into my daily coffee routine based on my specific needs and preferences.
